Meet Donna L. Shaffer - General Manager

"Donna is the General Manager as TIBA opens its doors in 2024. She continues to love the world of wellness and beauty, where she can serve others by guiding and educating them in health and wellness in a sincere and caring social environment."

Donna L. Shaffer has made big moves her entire life. She has lived extensively throughout the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, and she has traveled internationally for wellness and beauty industry research, development, and procurement, as well as leisurely for personal fulfillment.  She has held top leadership positions across various industries throughout her career. Shaffer has spent her life serving and loving the people and the passions she believes in.

As a child, Shaffer experienced childhood obesity as early as the third grade. By the fourth grade, she weighed 175 lbs, wore size 38 jeans, and 18 ½ dresses at only 5’3. Shaffer suffered from bullying and health issues that were painful. By the ninth grade, she took the weight off through unhealthy methods, moving the scales to 99 lbs., and suffered from anorexia and bulimia. Shaffer persevered to overcome these conditions and graduated high school healthy. Her intrigue in learning proper nutrition and exercise conditioning led to her desire to study exercise physiology at the University of Oregon. Shaffer loved exercise and sports and became an athlete. This journey led her to spend the rest of her life helping others in fitness and health, both physically and mentally, all with great empathy and compassion.

Early in her career, Shaffer plunged into the fitness industry at Sports Club Company in Los Angeles. She used her degree in exercise physiology and sports administration from the University of Oregon. In Nashville, she created the first co-ed fitness department for the Executive Downtown YMCA, as well as the first private training, revenue-producing plan for Tennessee’s YMCA. Following her time there, Shaffer created Spectrum Fitness Corporation, where she served the elite business executives of Nashville in private training, nutritional counseling, and fitness testing.

Composing fitness regimes for USSS Special Agents, Shaffer was recruited and served our country as a United States Secret Service Special Agent, where she was assigned to the protection of the U.S. President (George W. Bush, Bill Clinton), Vice President (Dan Quayle, Al Gore), their families, former Presidents (Reagan, Carter) and foreign dignitaries (Pope John Paul II, President of Botswana, Africa, President F.W. de Klerk, Africa). Her commitment to this service led her to finish in the top six of her graduating class at The United States Secret Service School in Washington, D.C.

In 1994, Shaffer’s passion for wellness, fitness, and beauty led her to the spa industry, beginning with Tiba De Nuhad Khoury.  She served over 30 years as an Executive Spa Director for luxury resorts, hotels, and day spas, including The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa, Sonoma California; WTS International, Spa Fusion & Health Club, San Francisco Hilton; Blu Spa Inc’s, Benu Spa, Dallas, and The Spa at Peter Island Resort, British Virgin Islands.

After Shaffer’s 40 years of experience in the industry, her journey transpired full circle; three years ago, joining Nuhad Khoury as a consultant in research and development to develop TIBA’s fourth boutique spa.

Donna is the General Manager as TIBA opens its doors in 2024. She continues to love the world of wellness and beauty, where she can serve others by guiding and educating them in health and wellness in a sincere and caring social environment.
